I had a lovely home listed that was vacant. The seller was out of state, so I had access for photos, showings, open houses, inspections and whatever was needed. There were helpful neighbors in the area who I got to know as well.
After the photos, showings were often, and I held open houses as well. I will never forget, that on about the third or forth time of entering the home to get ready for a showing, I was dive bombed by an owl! I was afraid to enter! By the time I would get the key in the door, the owl had decided that it would be best for me to leave, and he kept flying back and forth over my head! I RAN into the house, and hoped that he would not attack any of the prospective buyers who were coming in.
As you can see in the picture, the owl (and yes, that is a REAL owl), landed by the front door, and was showing me who was in charge! It is funny now, but at the time it wasn’t. I didn’t know what to do. I had to get into the house, so I went around to the back, and used the patio door to get in. By the time the potential buyers arrived, the owl had left. I did ask the neighbors about him, and he was a neighborhood regular, probably protecting a nest somewhere.
Anyway, luckily I sold the home rather quickly. With all the activity that comes with a pending contract, the owl decided to move on.
Just another day in the life of a Realtor®!
